I always love seeing Maria, it just nourishes my soul on so many levels. I am grateful to be one of many witnesses on her spectacular journey. How can one person be so kind, loving, insightful, hilarious and brilliant all at once? I would say when God(dess) was sprinkling special sauce on people she/they accidentally spilled the whole bottle on her, and perhaps that was because she doesn’t believe in them so they just had to try harder to get her attention?
I had a little epiphany while making this video that sometimes you get to be the person on the stage making a sold out show cry with laughter and sometimes you get to be the witness documenting the experience of that and I felt so at ease being the documenter/witness. In fact, I really quite enjoy documenting. Maybe it’s because we moved so much when I was growing up that I love to preserve little time capsules and moments. It makes them feel sort of permanent in a world where everything’s temporary.
What a gift to have long friendships spanning decades, to be a part of someone’s journey and have them witness yours. I think the real money in the bank on any given day is just being able to want/appreciate what you have and today I really do. Go see Maria perform live, it’s truly life-changing.
