Shortly after my break-up my Eat Pray Love fantasy kicked in- what would it be like to just let go of everything and go on a spiritual odyssey, a sabbatical, to follow my own inner GPS (Goddess Positioning Service) and honor my lifelong wanderlust, or in this case, with no real plan or evidence that this could work out, my WanderTrust? Let’s find out together, shall we? My first stop on the tour is Sedona.
EAT— The best part of a break up is all the weight loss! People ask me what my secret is and no, it’s not Ozempic. All I did was was simpy let go of a toxic situation-ship, our shared home and all the items in it + Marie Kondo every associated photo and video reminder—and I’m happy to report I’m feeling so much lighter now! 💗 Oh and the best part is all that I still get to eat whatever I want— here some of my fave eateries in Sedona are:
—Local Juicery (great juices, salads, buckwheat waffles!)
—Chocolate Tree (vegetarian yums featuring live music acts in an idyllic garden)
—Sedona Organic Taco Company (amazing veg + fish tacos)
—Karen's Glutenfree Bakeshop cute cafe with amazing treats n sweets
—Berry Divine (drive-through acai bowls!)
—Shorebird (a sweet guy took me on a romantic dinner date here, followed by an epic off-roading jeep ride through Broken Arrow which was so fun and also gave me delayed whiplash.)
PRAY—We always say we want to be treated like goddesses or gods but do we treat ourselves like that? Communing with nature is my favorite way to come back to my center, reset and rejuvenate. I loved staying at Saddle Rock Ranch because it’s the perfect writers retreat, a rustic cabin to decompress and disconnect, and reconnect with one’s authentic self. Nestled in the mountains, it has a big main house with a pool and jacuzzi and charming cabins in the back. I stayed in the actual Writers Room, a cozy cabin in the woods, only a 10 minute hike from the spectacular airport vortex, an amazing place to meditate and watch the sunset. The owner is so accommodating and I loved waking up in nature where there are birds, coyotes, critters and javelinas (which are similar to wild boars. ) Everything you need is right down the hill- Whole Foods and cafes plus the Grand Canyon is only two hours away with Zion and Bryce a bit further. I would highly recommend this staycation (or more accurately play-cation, SLAY-cation or Pray-cation) for anyone who wants to create something in solitude, whether it’s art, peace, or just an entirely new life (I did all of the above.) Eternally grateful for this magical mountain vacation! 🩵💋 The owner can customize a memorable healing retreat for you, text her at 310-614-5352.
My fave dates with the divine included:
🌅 watching the sunrise and sunset at Airport vortex
🌲 the 10 minute hike up and back from the cabin
🏔️ Sitting in the waterfall at Fossil Creek was a soul cleanse and energetic rebirth 💦
LOVE ADDICT: So the only way I’ve ever been able to detox from any addiction or toxic situation-ship is by replacing it with something that feels better. When I top-load my day with topline behaviors that feel good then I’m much less likely to make decisions in the day that don’t serve me (or anyone else.) Some of my fave ways to feel good in Sedona are:
I did yoga here pretty much every day and felt amazing while also meeting an a wonderful community of new friends. I especially loved the hot yoga with the owner Jen Richards who is outright spiritual badass but I also loved aerial yoga, restorative yoga with Walker Marchal, and of course Goddess Yoga created by Holly Kellogg, which involves a share circle, dancing with one’s shadow self, the world’s sexiest yoga stretches and twerking, complete with a tarot reading. Find your goddess tribe and twerk it out babe! I loved leaving sweaty and in tune. Holly calls it “taking your medicine.” I did my first show preview at SHY so it will always have a special place in my heart, and that’s where I also got the idea to do a world tour of spiritual comedy in healing spaces—(please reach out if you have a great yoga resort/retreat/healing space in your town that would like to host my show!)
—-Ecstatic Dance on Posse Grounds Dancing for three hours on a mountain followed by a healing sound bath is a great way to spend a Thursday evening! I love how partners mirror each other in a trance-like state then fall away, reminding me love is a temporary and fluid dance, a spiritual contract completing itself. 💃
—Got a lot of helpful info in my healing session with pyschic medium Judson Wood—super insightful to hear the masculine divine perspective.
—Fire Walk With Me. Loved Walker Marcha’s fire ceremony and labyrinth walk for discarding the old and calling in the new.
TBH the thing that healed me the most was just feeling the feels because feeling is healing. And also taking the advice to go no contact, embrace it all and turn it into art 🖼️ As my aunt Rita says don’t get bitter, get better!
The more I poured my energy into things, people and experiences that felt soul-nourishing the more they healed me. It gave me so much self esteem to take all that energy and power back that had I spent on the relationship and refocus it into writing my new hour of comedy, which I performed for the first time in Sedona and which is now back by popular demand and playing again at the Mary Fisher Theater June 28th before I take it on tour to film as my next special. The show is about healing heartbreak and the message is that you can persevere and recreate your life no matter how dark it got. I’m also offering it as a limited time workshop, all info below. Now that I’m healed I am grateful to be able to give back to the community that healed me by sharing all I learned in my new show and workshop! 🎤 🎤 🎤 And also auctioning my engagement ring for Verde Valley Sanctuary which helps survivors of family abuse and sexual assault.
Now I’m going on to Bali…what experiences will I encounter there? How will it change or transform me? Thank you for coming on this journey with me, I love you so much (but lets keep it platonic for now because this love addict is loving being single and unattached!)
Blessings and Blissings
